System Technical Program Manager, Android XR Glasses

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in hardware engineering program management, team lead, or product design engineering.
  • Experience in consumer electronics hardware.
  • Experience in product development and phase gate approach, hardware NPI build management, and FATP.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience shipping high volume/high quality product, consumer electronics manufacturing processes at system Final Assembly, Test and Pack (FATP) level.
  • Knowledge of the product lifecycle, tools, processes, and operations planning, as well as refining processes to improve team efficiency.
  • Strong ability to capture the big picture quickly and focus on key points.
  • Fearless ability to drive several tasks at once, and generally do whatever it takes to ship a product.
  • Strong team player and creative thinker who is able to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors against plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of Android XR glasses hardware platforms and systems, and drive the overall tactical execution of the team.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, build, validate, and launch system solutions .Manage development risks and issues to meet system build milestones, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams. Develop and manage program schedules and resource needs with engineering and operations teams.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership. Lead resolution on key technical issues. Interface with manufacturing partners, cross-functional engineering and operations teams driving builds and managing build schedules, budgets, and performance.
  • Implement process improvements to streamline product development. Travel internationally to lead development builds at supplies/manufacturing partners, manage budget;Influence and drive strategic JDM partner development and manufacturing efforts and establish long term supplier partnerships.
