About the job
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
As one of the executive members of the AlloyDB engineering team, you will have the opportunity to own and drive the technical goal and execution for new initiatives. You will be able to invent and deliver innovations in data management to a large set of customers quickly.
As traditional databases are moving into the cloud, we have the unique opportunity to rethink the fundamental database architecture, through specialized storage, indexing and query engines, query accelerators, AI/ML for statistics and optimizations, and many other approaches.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the team leads to driving long term technical direction.
- Own and drive the design and implementation of major components across the database stack.
- Help to influence and shape team's culture and process.
- Partner with Product Managers to define product direction.
- Collaborate with other Google Cloud Platform (GCP) teams to drive alignments and growing and mentoring other engineers into strong engineers.
