Hardware Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Engineer-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires 2 years of experience in the following: Hardware subsystem and system design (algorithm, protocol, structural). Systems architecture analysis for optimizing testability, performance, reliability, and cost. General PCB layout and design principles (including signal integrity and power integrity analysis). Hardware subsystem and system validation. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis (hardware, software, controls, electrical, mechanical)

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $188,800 - $231,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Position reports to the Google Sunnyvale, CA office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.

Responsibilities

  • Identify flaws in electrical components, PCBs, or systems and implement corrective solutions to address hardware failures
  • Evaluate hardware design feasibility based on product requirements, scope projects, and collaborate with partners to customize solutions
  • Apply best practices to optimize complex electrical components and systems to meet performance, power, and cost-effectiveness requirements
  • Drive documentation of electrical design, implementation, and test results throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Review and approve electrical designs, including block diagrams, schematics, layouts, and bills of material. Analyze key design trade-offs and predict the consequences of electrical design decisions in cross-functional discussions
