Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, Android, Google TV

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in Java, Kotlin or equivalent programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with android application development.
  • 2 years of experience in full-stack development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience integrating Generative AI into client applications, utilizing on-device machine learning runtimes and connecting TV interfaces to AI backend services.
  • Strong track record of reducing ANRs, optimizing app startup times, and enhancing media playback performance on resource-constrained devices.

As a senior engineer on the Google TV Server team, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and building the world's most intelligent and reliable TV server platform. You will lead the end-to-end development of full-stack features, integrating scalable backend services, Generative AI capabilities, and Android client components.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features end-to-end, leveraging expertise across the stack including Android client and server components. Drive both rapid iteration/prototyping and the development of scalable production solutions.
  • Design, build, and scale high-impact server components for Google TV, optimizing for performance and long-term system health.
  • Drive the technical execution of the AI Experience platform, focusing on Gemini feature integration, TPU resource optimization, and robust evaluation frameworks.
  • Uphold architectural standards and engineering best practices through design and code reviews, maintaining high code quality and system health.
  • Operate as a technical lead, guiding and mentoring other engineers. Make high-acumen technical decisions that balance execution velocity with product quality and maintainability.
