Data Center Facilities Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience managing and developing teams of facilities technicians or engineers within a critical infrastructure or data center environment.
  • 8 years of experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical facilities systems, including electrical distribution, UPS networks, emergency generators, HVAC, and control systems.
  • 8 years of experience planning, forecasting, and executing operational budgets (OpEx) while managing third-party vendor relationships.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical teams and vendors in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CFM, PMP, or LEED AP.
  • Experience leading facilities operations and deployment strategies across multi-site or large-scale, high-density data center campuses.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Proven track record of managing critical incidents, conducting root-cause analyses, and maintaining rigorous Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Deep technical expertise in advanced cooling methodologies and complex electrical distribution systems.

As a Data Center Facility Manager, you will lead an upbeat and collaborative team of engineers and technicians who operate, monitor, and support our physical facilities on a daily basis.

In this role, you will balance strategic long-term vision with operational excellence. You will oversee multi-site deployments, manage complex campus operational budgets, and partner with internal and external business teams to execute Google-wide strategies. Whether you are leading Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) initiatives, optimizing massive power and cooling networks, or leading critical incident response to minimize recovery times, your focus will be on driving cost-effective, operations. Your technical expertise will directly shape the future of contemporary computing facilities.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $138000 - $201000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and forecast campus operational budgets. Manage established expenditures with high fiscal discipline.
  • Set the strategy and organize deployment logistics across multiple data center sites.
  • Integrate Google-wide infrastructure strategies with both internal teams and external vendor partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data center efficiency and safety, keeping environmental standards at level.
  • Lead real-time response efforts during outages or abnormal conditions to minimize downtime and ensure rapid system recovery.
