Technical Program Manager, Geo

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in technical program management, operations management, or managing technical pipelines.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and coordinating with external vendors, partners, or suppliers.
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis, with experience building performance dashboards to drive operational improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience deploying AI/ML models and automation tools to optimize operational workflows and large-scale data production pipelines.
  • Experience managing cloud-based data ingestion pipelines and API integrations.
  • Domain knowledge in geospatial data, mapping technologies or field data acquisition operations.
  • Familiarity with camera/sensor hardware ecosystems and hardware fleet management.
  • Ability to be an influential member of a highly integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of troubleshooting complex pipeline bottlenecks and navigating ambiguous, global initiatives.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will be passionate about mapping and help build the future for Google Maps. We are responsible for acquiring and moderating the data that powers Google Maps. You will work with stakeholders across the globe to improve map data coverage and quality to keep Google Maps the best map.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and scale Street View extended workforce data acquisition and pipeline operations across the APAC region and globally, overseeing vendor partners and managing operations previously managed within the team.
  • Drive AI-driven global Street View pipeline improvements, focusing on automating projects like processing signals from the field using Gemini-based models to reduce manual overhead.
  • Lead AI-based Street View scope improvements and purification for extended workforce countries, utilizing predictive modeling to efficiently aim complex environments like unpaved and narrow urban roads.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Hardware Operations, Legal, and Privacy to unblock hardware deployments.
  • Design, build, and maintain executive dashboards using internal visualization tools to track operational metrics.
