Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in Java or C++.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Familiarity with ads systems.

The YouTube Shopping Ads team drives the mission to make YouTube the most influential commerce destination through advertising. We are responsible for creating and growing a business line for YouTube Advertising. We provide authentic and different content that inspires, educates, and enables end-to-end shopping behavior.

We grow at the intersection of the Ads, YouTube, and Shopping systems. We have deep roots in the user experiences, advertiser demand, and growing the underlying foundational shopping infrastructure. Further, we optimize the ads and the shopping products for the advertisers and users, provide automation solutions for our advertisers, and much more.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge in defining and developing the next generation of AI-powered shopping features within YouTube Ads. This is a unique opportunity to own a pivotal area, blending creativity with technical expertise to impact millions of users, creators, and advertisers globally.
  • Be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing novel AI experiences. Your canvas includes exploring seamless integrations with emerging e-commerce frameworks like the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and universal cart, as well as crafting intelligent and engaging conversational commerce through business agent chat. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, UX, Research, and other engineering teams across YouTube and Ads), and driven to push the boundaries of what's possible. This role offers substantial autonomy and the chance to build and mentor within a rapidly growing team at the forefront of the shopping domain and advertising technology.
