Financial Accountant

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 4 years of experience in accounting and taxes, compliance, or finance operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
  • Experience with handling regulatory and compliance requirements for legal entities in Korea.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, both K-IFRS and USGAAP, and related accounting standards.
  • Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.

About the job

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. In Finance, we strive to build the appropriate infrastructure and financial controls to mitigate risk well ahead of time.

As a Financial Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting and delivering these objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for activities in Japan in accordance with US GAAP, K-IFRS and various other statutory requirements, as well as contributing to build up AI driven working environments.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of all accounting and finance control related processes in Korea.
  • Manage annual statutory financial statements, audits, tax compliance, and regular in-depth analysis to ensure the integrity and accuracy of books.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with regional partners, in-country business managers, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Audit.
  • Recognize potential areas of risk and develop robust, scalable risk management solutions.
  • Possess knowledge of accounting tools and drive automation by adopting ERP systems, SQL, data analytics, and AI to eliminate manual work.
