Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in data analytics using SQL and Python.
  • Experience with the end-to-end software development life cycle (e.g., build, test, and release).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical fields.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or the broader AI/ML development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable updates for stakeholders and leadership.

You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Cloud Learning Services Team (CLS) works with companies, government agencies, and academic institutions to help millions of individuals develop and grow their technology skills with Google Cloud. We have the motivation to upskill existing and future workers with a keen focus on leveraging the power of AI in educational technology to reach over 40 million learners.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead execution efforts for high-impact data programs that span multiple organizations and product areas. You will orchestrate the end-to-end creation of analytical reporting assets and robust data infrastructure, while driving the CLS AI data strategy to facilitate business excellence. You will lead cross-functional projects, negotiating scope and timelines with technical dependencies to accelerate data-informed decision-making. You will leverage your deep expertise in data engineering to lead efforts on domain and service improvements that directly support organizational growth.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $237000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end execution and strategic delivery of complex data pipelines and infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by serving as the primary interface between executive leadership and technical teams (engineers, product, and scientists) to deliver high-impact data products.
  • Manage the AI roadmap and oversee the execution of strategic AI initiatives and platforms.
  • Negotiate technical dependencies, scope, and timelines related to data infrastructure to support launches and platform improvements.
  • Optimize workflows and address operational needs by implementing automated tools and processes, while managing bug fixes and ad hoc service requests.
