Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack, YouTube Ads

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience in C++ and SQL.
  • Experience in infrastructure improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages including Java, Python, Go, or C++, complemented by front-end experience in TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. In this role, you will help manage and launch projects. These initiatives intersect across client-side implementation, back-end serving and infrastructure changes, quality analysis, and metrics definition. You will manage cross-product area projects by collaborating with machine learning quality, infrastructure, product management, user experience, data science, and sales teams.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Optimize ad delivery, content, and presentation to ensure ads are personalized and relevant.
  • Manage technical initiatives to improve advertiser value and user experience by incorporating product data and optimizing the serving stack.
  • Partner with product management, user experience, and engineering teams to define and deliver on a pillar of the YouTube Ads strategy.
  • Track performance metrics and identify opportunities for business growth.
