Senior User Experience Researcher, Google Pay

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 8 years of experience within UX, human-computer interaction, or design research with focus on applied research in product development context.
  • Experience working in 0-1 setting, launching new, complex products from the ground up.
  • Experience in the Generative AI space to shape novel and meaningful product opportunities.
  • Ability to formulate problems, research questions, define scope of inquiry, and distill findings into actionable insights.
  • Interest in product development and connecting research findings with design and shaping new product experiences.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate User Experience Researcher to join our team and play a role in shaping the product experience for SMB businesses using Google Pay for business.

The SMB landscape in India presents a unique context and has been evolving with UPI payments, new digital platforms and tools for businesses. There is a growing range of experiments with GenAI for communication and promotional aspects, scaling across Indic languages, voice support, hardware devices and more. The role requires staying on the vanguard of this dynamic space and co-develop contextually relevant multimodal solutions with voice, vernacular and video.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, own and drive research roadmaps with multi-phase projects. Design and conduct high-quality research (foundational, generative, evaluative) to define new opportunities, shape product experiences and influence strategy across the product cycle. 
  • Lead research activities in a nimble, iterative fast-paced environment with mixed methods to inspire and partner with cross-functional teams to co-define product direction, navigate the ambiguity of early stage product development (0-1) while fostering a collaborative culture to maintain momentum.
  • Apply a mixed-methods approach, skillfully selecting and applying a variety of qualitative research methods such as ethnographic field studies, diary studies, contextual inquiries, usability testing, surveys, long-term field studies, evaluating functional prototypes.
  • Communicate and advocate research findings through compelling storytelling, data visualization, and immersive presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Uphold ethical, inclusive and responsible innovation.
