About the job

Legal Investigations Support (LIS) is responsible for managing global user data disclosure requests supporting criminal investigations, civil matters, emergency matters, and privacy inquiries. The team works collaboratively with the Data Disclosure Strategy Team (DDST), which sets legal policy, while LIS oversees the scaling of those policies into standard operating procedures for global implementation. LIS coordinates the program management necessary to fulfill Google’s compliance, privacy, and civic obligations at a global scale.

As a Policy Specialist within the Legal Investigations Support (LIS) team, you are responsible for the success of our global legal operations. You will be part of a team that handles requests for user data received from government agencies, courts, and parties in civil and criminal litigation. You will manage these legal requests, processing them through complex internal policies, tools, and workflows.

You will be focused on serving as the dedicated subject matter expert for a designated portfolio of Google products. You will take end-to-end ownership of ensuring timely compliance for inbound product data requests—resolving high-complexity escalations, overseeing procedural updates, and partnering cross-functionally to troubleshoot bugs and maintain tooling reliability. When confronting novel challenges beyond standard operating procedures (SOPs), you will deconstruct ambiguous problems to architect scalable solutions. As products rapidly evolve, you will proactively adapt workflows and tooling to ensure data outputs remain accurate, robust, and compliant.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
