Software Engineer III, Embedded Systems and Firmware, Audio

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience coding in low level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or C) and in scripting languages (e.g., Python/Tcl).
  • Experience developing embedded systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with audio processing.
  • Experience with DSPs (e.g., HIFI) and ARM processors.
  • Exposure to on-device model integration and optimization.
  • Strong interest in both plumbing or system code and algorithms, and ability to switch hats as necessary.

On the Pixel Hearables Audio Software team, we are developing the next generation Google Pixel earbuds that enhance and expand hearing and speech. Our mission is to deliver exceptional audio software that powers our hearable devices and brings all the goodness of Google to users wherever they go, productize novel audio algorithms that bring a little extra "magic" to our hearable devices. Our algorithms unlock new features which require a combination of signal processing and acoustics. We work with early hardware prototypes, design and implement cool new next-gen features.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement/integrate, and test audio firmware for Google hearable consumer devices.
  • Implement infrastructure to support algorithmic development, engaging with research science and technology development teams.
  • Own and integrate audio software with broader end-to-end system features.
  • Support or develop debugging, tuning and data collection tools.
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and hardware counterparts to define, scope, understand and deliver key requirements for new audio features.
