Disgraced eMudhra drops out of TLS business after using cert private key of 4
Profile
eMudhra Limited is an Indian public key infrastructure company founded in 2008 and based in Bengaluru. It is licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities to issue digital signature certificates in India, where it is one of the leading issuers, and it went public in 2022. It became the only Indian root certificate authority trusted by major web browsers. As of 2026, the company has issued more than 60 million digital certificates.
In October 2026, the private keys of eight of its intermediate certificates were found to be extremely weak, leading browser vendors to block the certificates. Days later, eMudhra announced that it would leave the TLS certificate business. Wikipedia
